A loose denture or gap in the teeth can look unsightly and significantly reduce confidence and chewing ability. In the past, patients were offered removable dentures which many patients hated. Food got stuck under them and they felt bulky and unnatural. Fixed options like bridges relied on teeth on either side of the gap to be healthy enough to have replacement teeth bonded to them. Where this is not possible or patients are not wanting to prepare healthy teeth on either side of the gap, implants seem to offer a very neat solution.

Dental implants are the modern solution for missing or damaged teeth. They can look and function like natural teeth, giving you back your confidence and comfort. They are small titanium posts that are surgically placed in your jawbone, providing a stable foundation for replacement teeth. With a success rate of over 95%, they are a long-term solution and now have decades of research and science behind their success.

Many patients are out off by the cost of implants or the surgery but implants can in many cases be the most long term cost effective way of replacing teeth. The surgery can be relatively quick and painless especially in the hands of a good surgeon. It’s important that the qualifications and experience of the implantologist is considered carefully.
